The plot is great but the side stories are much to detailed and long. Although I tired of all the dialogue and length of everyday stuff in his life (I actually like side happenings in books and find them boring if they don't have them), I had to find out who done it or what happened so I scrolled and scrolled to the end. The book would be fantastic if it was a bit condensed. As it is, it is a really good very original mystery story.Product details

As Ice Storms Do edition by Bret Barrett Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
As a first time novelist Barrett is off to a great start. Exceptionally readable, the book rolls along with interesting characters. Looking forward to he next book.
I have wanted to read something from this particular author for quite some time, and here I am almost 20 years later I'm rewarded for my patience! Bret Barrett's "As Ice Storms Do" is a book that reads like a detective-mystery book. For those people who were lucky enough to have had Bret as an English teacher (or even luckier to have had him as a Yearbook Advisor as well), please read this. You'll get sucked in to your days in high school (and swear you're there near Bret's room and feel/see everything that's happening!)!!!
Does Trick ever repair his relationships, especially with Amie and Freddie? How does Trick let go of everything he's found out about Amanda? Bret, we're anxiously awaiting more!
I enjoyed reading this story, although I was not happy with the ending, but the writing is still top notch. I loved the main character, Trick, with all his imperfections which just made him that much more endearing. I hope for a sequel to this, because Trick is the kind of character you want to live with forever. Awesome read!
Great book, where is next part?...Bret you have to continue...Sure you didn't write about my friends? Everyone can relate this story to someone they know.
The product review for this novel does not tell potential readers how compelling this mystery truly is. The author gives you a very interesting, sometimes disturbing look inside the teenage Amanda through excerpts from her journal. The anticipation as to what has happened to this intelligent young girl builds as the main character wades through the quagmire of a predicament in which he finds himself. A series of difficult decisions and shocking events makes this book a page turner. You won't get bored and the ending is worth it.
Was very excited to learn that my favorite English teacher had published a book. I got it free, but so would have paid to read it. Well written...exactly his style. Surprise ending. Thought I had it figured out, but I was way off. Looking forward to more!
"As Ice Storms Do" was a very good quick read. I appreciated the amount of detail put in, and the vivid, well-developed characters. Many times, I found myself laughing (despite the heavy subject matter) simply because of the author's snarky writing style. Loved it! Although it did feel rushed at the end...
This book gets an B for original concept, a C for spelling, and an A+ for wit!
